During my Episcopal Social Media Sunday workshop at St. Timothy’s Creve Coeur on June 29, I plan on taking participants on tour of online Episcopal communities.  Here are the group websites and pages I plan on visiting on my tour.

1. Episcopalians on Facebook

This group has more than 3,000 members and is an open group.  “This is for Episcopalians on Facebook, and is open to ALL of them. Some folks may choose to use it as an Episcopal chat room, while others may use it for Episcopal networking.”  There are often more than 10 different posts/ discussions active on any day.

2. Episcopal Cafe

 

The Episcopal Cafe is “an independent Web site featuring news, commentary, art, meditations and video.” If you look at the articles, you will find many comments and conversations.  Anyone can participate in the conversation by either creating a login id for the website, facebook, or twitter.

3.  Forward Day by Day

 

“Forward Day by Day is the flagship publication of Forward Movement, an official agency of the Episcopal Church, publishing resources for prayer and spirituality, Episcopal Church history and teachings, parish ministry, and pastoral concerns.”

Many people participate in a conversation about each of the daily meditations on the website. Anyone can participate in the conversation by either creating a login id for the website, facebook, or twitter.

4.  Daily Office West

“The Daily Office is an ancient way to pray. It marks the passage of time by offering Morning and Evening Prayer as written in the Book of Common Prayer of The Episcopal Church, headquartered in the United States.”

The services are posted  on the blog live each day, and comments and prayer requests are welcomed and invited. Anyone can participate in the conversation by either creating a login id for the website.
